allen bradley is an English author and television scriptwriter, best known for his series of crime novels featuring the character Flavia de Luce. He was born in Toronto, Canada in 1938 and moved to England in 1956. He has written several books, including The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie, The Weed That Strings the Hangman's Bag, A Red Herring Without Mustard, I Am Half-Sick of Shadows, Speaking from Among the Bones, and As Chimney Sweepers Come to Dust. He has also written several television scripts, including episodes of Coronation Street, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, and The Avengers.

Bradley's Flavia de Luce series follows the adventures of an 11-year-old girl living in 1950s England. Flavia is a precocious and inquisitive girl who loves chemistry and solving mysteries. She lives with her father, Colonel de Luce, and her two older sisters, Ophelia and Daphne, in the family home, Buckshaw. The books have been praised for their vivid descriptions of 1950s England and for their clever and intricate plots.

Bradley has won several awards for his work, including the Agatha Award for Best Novel for The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie, the Barry Award for Best Novel for I Am Half-Sick of Shadows, and the Crime Writers' Association Dagger in the Library Award for his body of work. He has also been nominated for the Edgar Award for Best Novel for As Chimney Sweepers Come to Dust.

Bradley's books have been translated into more than 20 languages and have been adapted into a television series, which aired on ITV in the UK in 2017. He is currently working on a new Flavia de Luce novel, which is due to be released in 2021.
