allen bradley is an English author and television screenwriter best known for his series of crime novels featuring the character Flavia de Luce. He was born in Toronto, Canada in 1938 and moved to England in 1956. He has written several books, including The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie, The Weed That Strings the Hangman's Bag, A Red Herring Without Mustard, I Am Half-Sick of Shadows, Speaking from Among the Bones, and As Chimney Sweepers Come to Dust. He has also written several television scripts, including episodes of Coronation Street, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, and Midsomer Murders.

Bradley's Flavia de Luce series follows the adventures of an 11-year-old amateur detective living in the 1950s English countryside. The books have been praised for their wit and charm, and have been translated into several languages. Bradley has won several awards for his work, including the Agatha Award for Best Novel in 2010 for The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie.
Bradley is also a member of the Detection Club, a group of British mystery writers founded in 1930. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and a member of the Crime Writers' Association. He is also a patron of the British Red Cross.
